What people wonder before they drive on board.
Do passengers travel free on Norwegian ferries?
Yes. On national road ferries passengers travel free — you only pay for the vehicle, and the price follows the vehicle's length. A trailer counts towards the total length.
What is the difference between a tag and a prepayment agreement?
An AutoPASS tag without prepayment gives 10% off. An AutoPASS prepayment agreement gives 50% for private and 40% for business, against a prepayment tiered by vehicle length (NOK 2,200 / 10,600 / 20,100). Use the calculator to see whether prepayment is worth it for your trip.
What is the summer fare?
The summer fare is a raised price on selected connections in four counties (Møre og Romsdal, Trøndelag, Nordland, Troms) from 1 May to 31 August, with exemption after a number of crossings. Summer prices vary by connection — the calculator shows the ordinary fare and links to autopassferje.no for summer prices.
Are the prices here official?
We show indicative prices from the AutoPASS tariff regulation. The binding, official price is on autopassferje.no or on board.
Five ways to pay for the ferry.
AutoPASS is the national payment scheme for ferries. The discount depends on how you pay — from full price to 50% with a prepayment agreement.
